The Warm Hug was formed in 2018 by singer/mandolinist Erin Lindgren and drummer Benjamin Briggs as a duo project and has since grown to include Andrew Lindgren on bass and Charlie Tigner on synthesizer. Blending elements of folk and indie rock with a smattering of punk and a healthy dose of what has been described as "medieval mathrock", The Warm Hug keeps listeners on their toes and defies easy categorization with their lyrically-driven songs that feel both ancient and timely. |
Touching on themes of self-loathing and self-acceptance, hope and despair, and the search for meaning and purpose, Erin's lyrics are linguistically playful and pragmatically optimistic, with a voice described by Jeff Maisey of Veer Magazine as "harken[ing] back to the mystical pop of the '70s pro/folk group Renaissance, and yet it's paired with a completely experimental approach to the genre." The Warm Hug released their debut EP, "Premature Emasculation", in September 2022 and are recording a full-length album with an expected release in 2024. They were awarded honorable mention in the 2023 Veer Music Awards' "Best Indie Alternative" category. They are currently located in Norfolk, VA. |
